Dimapur, Amy 24 (EMN): As part of its action plan, the Dimapur District Legal Services Authority (DDLSA) conducted a legal literacy programme for youth members of Dimapur Ao Baptist Arogo (DABA) on May 24 at Elim Hall.
Headed by secretary of DDLSA, AjongbaImchen, chief judicial magistrate Dimapur and team of panel lawyers spoke on various topics with special emphasis on the right to avail free legal services.
Panel lawyer Zuchumbeni Ngully, shared objectives of legal services and consumer rights while Sentimenla, Rokovitsu and Moatila spoke on women rights, cybercrime and the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act including social welfare schemes initiated by the National Legal Services Authority.
In his concluding remarks, AjongbaImchen emphasised the need to not only know one’s rights but also to be aware of citizen’s duties for the betterment of society.
The programme was chaired by Kekhrielü Mezhu, panel lawyer while invocation and welcome address were delivered by Pastor Maong Lemtur and Lima Akum Longchar, Mission Director, respectively.
The participants were also encouraged to spread awareness on the free legal services provided by the DDLSA which has its Front Office at the District and Sessions Court, Dimapur.
