Dimapur, Dec. 18: Citizen’s Welfare Society (CWS), Kiphire has lauded the joint team of ACAUT and Concerned Citizens of Nagaland (CCN) for busting and unearthing the multi-crore PDS rice scam in Dimapur.
The society extended solidarity to the joint team in the fight against the corruption that threatens livelihoods, undermines, development and dashes hopes for greater social justice.
Meanwhile, CWS also condemned the dastardly act of the government and the law enforcing agency in suppressing the voice of the common people against corruption when it resorted to brute force in dispersing and disrupting the peaceful rallies. Expressing dismayed at the tardy response of the government in dealing with corrupt culprits and criminals involved in the scam, CWS stated that these facts alone suggest the state government practice of shielding corrupt officials and criminals that are in collusion with higher rung officials across the department.
CWS viewed that alongside the rising public rage against corruption the ability of the present day government in combating it is eroding public confidence, but it does not deter that fighting back against corruption is futile. Therefore, the society appealed all the right thinking citizens of Nagaland to launch a plan to fight corruption.
Further, CWS conveyed that strongly backs the demands put forth by ACAUT for a CBI probe into the entire PDS imbroglio.
