Dimapur, Aug. 2 (EMN): A six month course on cutting and tailoring training program sponsored by VDB (Women) Padumphukhri village is currently underway at TRGU Vocational Training Centre (TVTC), Dimapur.
A press release received at Eastern Mirror, while informing about the program, stated that the proprietor of TVTV, Aienla Jamir 'shared about the development and entrepreneurship that has come through by skill training for 'for better and secured pronged approach' to improve employability and income-earning opportunities, security and promoting sustainable development and livelihood'.
Saying that "its various schemes and initiatives is working to reinforce equality via skill development," Jamir encouraged the all the participants to be self dependent, to be able to look after one family, to be punctual and be responsible.
She said that the stitching and sewing training program is to enable women to earn an income and be self reliant and added that after completing the course, the trainees can take an advance course for mastering in their 'domain course'.
Meanwhile, the release also stated that a member of Village Development Board (Women Wing), Apokla, while speaking at the programme, encouraged the trainees on developing their skills which will be vital in gender equality and access.
Mrs Apokla Member of Village Development Board Women Wings gave an inherent and encouraging talk on Women skill training will be vital in gender equality and access.
"When women are restricted to housewife and preventing from leaving home, they can’t contribute to the family income, making it difficult for families to escape the cycle of poverty," said the VDB (Women WIng) member.
As women, one should fight 'their rights to be a self reliant'; Apokla therefore, advised the trainees to work hard in mastering their trade to serve the community in the nearby future .
A number of candidates and tribal community from Padumpukhuri village attended the program, the release added.
