DIMAPUR — The
concluding day of the Hornbill Festival cultural extravaganza witnessed rich
cultural presentations by various tribes of Nagaland at the main arena in
Kisama on Tuesday. The programme was presented by the Department of Art and Culture
on the theme “Cultural Connect.”
The morning cultural extravaganza began with a folk song
‘Thele Lu’ by the Chakhesang cultural troupe, which is traditionally sung by
the men, followed by the millet harvesting song ‘Titse Nyeh Khidong’ by the
Sangtam cultural troupe and a folk song ‘Zakhama Kehou’ by the Angami cultural
troupe.
A cultural dance ‘Watemdong’ was presented by the Ao
cultural troupe, while a folk dance ‘Jamhang’ was performed by the Khiamniungan
cultural troupe and a men’s action song ‘Shietu Khin’ presented by the Tikhir
cultural troupe.
A warrior dance ‘Aphilo Kuwo’ was presented by the Sumi
cultural troupe, while a commemorative performance by the Phom cultural troupe
and folk song ‘Dim Dim Chong’ by Garo cultural troupe.
In the afternoon session, the Lotha cultural troupe
presented a folk dance ‘Tokhu Sharü,’ while a demonstration on sowing of seed
‘Tatin Tinbo’ was presented by the Zeliang cultural troupe and a festival dance
‘Shangpele’ was presented by the Chang cultural troupe.
The Rengma cultural troupe showcased a live demonstration on
cotton spinning, while the Kuki cultural troupe performed a dance ‘Suhta Lam’
or the 'pestle dance' and the Konyak cultural troupe performed ‘Shamshu Lok/
Oung Kham, Oung Kham,’ beating the log drum.
The Pochury cultural troupe presented a folk song ‘Oh
Tejonpasu,’ while the Kachari cultural troupe performed a dance ‘Bal-Khao-Ba’
and the Yimkhiung cultural troupe presented a farewell song ‘Acham Khün.’
Later, certificate, photo frame, cake and cash were given to
all the cultural troupes. The best commemorative performance was awarded to the
Ao cultural troupe with certificate and a cash of INR 20,000.
The best performing cultural troupe was won by Konyak
cultural troupe and the second was won by Rengma cultural troupe. They were
awarded certificates and a cash of INR 15,000 and INR 10,000 respectively.
The best morung awards were presented to Ao morung, Chang
morung and Konyak morung.
The best stall was presented to Tepok Oshidak, Nouva and Ao
fusion.
