
DIMAPUR — The 6th Dimapur District Inter-Departmental Sports Meet held at Multi Complex Stadium, concluded on November 22, with the event bringing together various departments in a celebration of unity and sportsmanship.
Organised under the aegis of the Government of Nagaland, the event highlighted the importance of camaraderie, teamwork, and fitness within the public sector, a DIPR report stated.
Commissioner of Police, Dimapur, Kevithuto Sophie, the special guest for the closing ceremony, in his address, emphasised the significance of such initiatives in fostering collaboration among government departments while promoting a healthy and active lifestyle.
Highlighting the essence of teamwork, camaraderie and mutual support, the police officer underscored the importance of such gatherings for government employees.
“Everybody is a winner…As government servants, we are all busy with our responsibilities. This is a chance to come together, get to know one another, and support each other. These activities should be organised every year," Sophie said.
Stressing on the role of public servants, the he encouraged the participants to recognise the significance of their respective roles and their collective responsibility to serve the people of Dimapur effectively.
“With our own unique responsibilities, we are all important in our roles. Together, we can contribute to helping the public and Dimapur as a whole,” he added.
The Medical department emerged overall champions of the tournament, followed by the Power department and Geological and Mining department in the second and third positions, respectively.
Deputy Commissioner, Dimapur, Dr. Tinojongshi Chang, along with the organising committee, expressed gratitude to all participants and departments for their enthusiastic involvement and support in making the event a success.
ADC Dimapur, Zakabo Rotokha, who delivered the vote of thanks, congratulated the all the teams for their hard work and dedication, which contributed to the event's resounding success.
