Dimapur, Nov. 22 (EMN): The additional district magistrate of Sivasagar in Assam has extended the night curfew along the 5 km belt in Assam side of Sivasagar district bordering Nagaland state with effect from Oct. 24 for a period of 60 days, according to a DIPR report on Thursday. The curfew will be in force from 6 pm to 6 am.
In an order, the magistrate stated that the curfew has been imposed as a “precautionary measure to prevent occurrence of anti-social elements/extremist/unlawful activities coming across the Assam/Nagaland border in the belt of Sivasagar district.”
Movement of any person/group of persons/ vehicular traffic has been prohibited during the curfew period. However, exemptions have been made for army/CRPF/police personnel and civil officials on duty from the purview of the prohibitive order.
