Curfew along Nagaland-Sivasagar border

Dimapur, Aug. 22 (EMN): The additional district magistrate (ADM) of Sivasagar in Assam has reinforced night curfew from 6 pm to 6 am in the five-kilometre belt of Sivasagar district bordering Nagaland with effect from August 22 for a period of 60 days, according to a DIPR report on Thursday. It stated that the night curfew has been imposed as a precautionary measure to prevent occurrence of “anti-social elements/extremist/unlawful activities” coming across the Assam/Nagaland border in the belt of Sivasagar district. Movement of any person/group of persons/any vehicle has been prohibited during the period of night curfew. Exemptions have been made for magistrate, personnel of army/CRPF/police, and civil officials on duty.
