DIMAPUR, OCTOBER 10: North East People’s Association Mangaluru (NEPAM) organised its annual fresher’s meet cum cultural programme on October 9 at Alva’s Institute of Engineering and Technology, Mijar, with Captain Ganesh Karnik, member of Karnataka Legislative Council and Deputy Chairman of the NRI Forum, Karnataka, and Vivek Alva, Managing Trustee of Alva’s Education Foundation, Moodbidri, as the chief guest and guest of honour.
Addressing the gathering, Captain Ganesh Karnik shared his experiences and the challenges he had faced during his posting as a Commission Officer in the North East Region of the country. He encouraged the students to get tougher when the going gets tough and to excel at their work. He further wished the North east people a fruitful stay in Mangaluru.
Vivek Alva said Mangaluru is a home for every Indian, adding that each and every student from North East should feel at home throughout their stay in Mangaluru. He also encouraged the students to promote the beautiful culture and tradition of the North East.
Welcome address was delivered by Chiheuding Khate, PRO NEPAM, and Ms. Ngukatoli Yeppo introduced the guests. Ms. Kaini Cecilia, president and advisor NEPAM, chaired the programme and highlighted activities of the Association.
Speech on behalf of freshers was delivered by Dzuvino Judith Kuotsu and vote of thanks was delivered by John Lalmuanawma, vice president NEPAM.
Beautiful cultural dances of North East were performed by young talented artists. Mr. Valarian and Ms. Priyanka Urembam were adjudged NEPAM Mr and Miss Freshers 2016.
The programme ended with a note of gratitude from Sr. Diana UFS, general secretary NEPAM. The masters of ceremony were Ms. Syliki Bareh and Ms. Mercy Lyngdoh.
