Dimapur, May 5 (EMN): The Changki Theological Union (CTU) held its 20th conference from May 2 to the 4th at Ebenezer Hall in Chümoukedima on the theme “Yisu Krista Kisung” (Christ alone).
Speaking at the inaugural service, Dr. Imtiakum Lusangri, pastor of Signal Fellowship DABA said, "Always trying to relate ourselves with the glories of our predecessors will not lead us to the truth of our Lord Jesus. We have to hold on to God's word as true disciples of Christ. Christ is the truth and only this Christ can set us free from all kinds of bondages."
On the following morning, the delegates spent time in prayer for forgiveness, healing and reconciliation of Changki, while in the morning service, Dr. Akok Amri, pastor of Impur Baptist Church, spoke on the topic, "The voice of theologians in today's century." He said, "In the tension and polarisation between the theologians and this corrupted society, theologians should look closely into God’s authority to replenish this world (Gen 1:27-28) along with His personal saving works."
On the final day, Dr. Meyu Changkiri, pastor of Ao Baptist Church, Shillong, delivered the message basing on the topic "Called out to serve in excellence" (1 Peter 2:9). He said, "You don't have to be perfect, but you can be your best. For the God that we serve is not a sub-standard God and He deserves the best."
In the concluding service, Rev. Achet Pongen, vice president of International Evangelical Fellowship, challenged the congregation to retrospect their first commitment and to stand true to it. He opined that theologians and people serving the Lord should not make the living God into an ‘idol’ for their own personal gain and selfish benefit.
He added that the ‘gifts’ of the spirit should not be misused to attain wealth, fame and popularity, nor should it be mistaken for the ‘fruit’ of the spirit. He further said, "Let others testify about your goodness, but one should not dwell in self glorification."
In conclusion, he made a clarion call to all God’s servants to commit themselves and to rededicate their lives for His greater mission and purpose.
It stated that 61 delegates from all over Nagaland and beyond attended the conference hosted by Changki Fellowship, Chümoukedima.
