Nagaland CSR Conclave concludes with promise of open doors and hope for investment

The two-day Nagaland CSR and Investment Conclave concluded on Tuesday with promises for partnership and investment.

Minister of Planning and Coordination, Land Revenue and Parliamentary Affairs, Neiba Kronu, addressed the valedictory session held at NBCC Convention Centre in Kohima. He called upon the delegates from various agencies across the country to be ambassadors for the state of Nagaland.

He urged investors and banks to invest in the state as there is huge scope and potential with resources that are still unexplored, and Nagaland being one of the hotspot diversity areas in the world.

Maintaining that under externally funded projects, Asian Development Bank (ADB) and World Bank are coming to invest in the state, he said that nationalised banks were also present during the conclave and expressed hope that they will invest in the state.

Further, Kronu expressed gratitude to all the participants for coming forward and taking part in the conclave, stating that investment in Nagaland is a 'win-win' situation.

Kronu further informed that the draft for Land Law is ready and will soon be tabled in the next Cabinet meeting and subsequently in the upcoming Nagaland Legislative Assembly (NLA) session.

He reiterated that the land holding system in Nagaland is different as it belongs to the villagers and the community, adding that the Land Law which the state has been using dates back to 1886, “which is too old”.

Earlier, CEO of Investment and Development Authority of Nagaland (IDAN), Alemtemshi Jamir expressed happiness that through the Nagaland CSR and Investment Conclave, many companies have already signed expression of interest while some had signed special interests with Noklak, Mon, Shamator, Chumoukedima and Dimapur.

He informed that nine companies had also given expression of interest for various activities with the School Education department and other companies to invest in the state.

Further, he exuded hope that the companies will not only express interest but come forward to invest and bring about change in the state.

The vote of thanks was proposed by Kesonyu Yhome, secretary of Works and Housing department, Government of Nagaland.

A day-long session on interaction with CSR funding agencies in Nagaland, department and administration, exchange of ideas and forging partnerships and experience sharing in implementing CSR projects were also done by various personalities, departments and companies.
