Dimapur, June 28
The Cabinet Sub-Committee set up to go into details of the Foothill Roads Project has appealed to Nagaland Foothill Road Construction Committee (NFHRCC) to suspend its proposed Dimapur bandh in the interest of the public.
The Cabinet Sub-Committee, in a letter to the convener of NFHRCC today, also conveyed that it is fully seized of the issues that have come up concerning the road project.Even as it described as “unfortunate” the walkout by the members of NFHRCC before the conclusion of the meeting convened by it at Hotel Japfü in Kohima today, the Cabinet Sub-Committee acknowledged the presence and participation of the NFHRCC members at the meeting.
The Cabinet Sub-Committee also assured to confer with Road & Bridges department to ensure that no loss is incurred by any contractor due to the extra work that may have been carried out and also to find out ways and means for participation of other contractors.
“It will be appreciated that the main issue is to ensure that this very important road becomes a reality and no misunderstanding should be allowed to hamper this project,” the letter further said.
NFHRCC appeal on bandh humorous: NPF Youth Wing
The NPF Youth Wing described the statement of Nagaland Foothill Road Construction Committee (NFHRCC), as published in some local dallies, seeking support of the general public for the success of their “savage culture bandh” in Dimapur on June 30 as “very humorous”.
“The desired implementation of the foothill road construction does not lie inside the barbaric bandh culture and any social organization like NFHRCC should not take Dimapur as their joyride, the NPF Youth Wing, in a release issued by its Media Cell, said today.
It alleged that the “newly born unrecognized NFHRCC” highlighted the respectful names of 10 tribes in local dallies time and again to damage the good image of the PWD (R&B) minister. Reminding that the NFHRCC demanded the minister’s resignation as appeared in all local dallies on June 25, the release said the committee is now trying to reverse its track and began a divisive policy between the department, NPF Youth Wing and the office of the R&B minister to topple the NPF- led DAN government. “This clearly shows that the stand of NFHRCC seems comical, hypocritical and fictitious,” the NPF Youth Wing stated.
On its queries on the activities and function of NFHRCC, the Youth Wing stated that “NFHRCC is neither dictatorial organization nor a constitutional elected platform”. Therefore, the release said the NPF Youth Wing, being from the ruling political party, is duty bound to rectify and bring transparency pertaining to any organizing intending to hamper the law and order of the land in the interest of general public.
It also once again asked the NFHRCC as to what wrong the department and the government have done for inviting NIT and floating open tender. It also asked whether the NPWD/government had to follow the NFHRCC diktat instead of Ministry of Road Transport and Communication laid down norms. What wrong the Dimapurians have done that bandh is being imposed in Dimapur, it further sought to know.
The Youth Wing appealed to the peace loving Naga citizens to detach from “self image social organization” formed to take over the reins of governance and trying to disturb the peaceful atmosphere of our land by organizing uncivilized activities like bandh, strike, etc.
