CRPF’s Kohima half marathon on October 5 offers 60 prizes worth INR 6.3 lakh across three age categories
DIMAPUR — The 78 Battalion Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) will organise a state-level half marathon in Kohima on October 5, offering 60 prizes with a total purse of INR 6.3 lakh.
The event, to be held at Indira Gandhi Stadium under the CRPF’s “SPANDAN – Sports for Peace and Development Across Nation” initiative, is being organised in collaboration with the Sports Authority of India (SAI).
The marathon will feature three age categories for male and female participants.
The first category is for participants aged 18 to below 30 years and will cover 21 kilometres. The second, also a 21-km race, is open to those aged 30 to below 45 years. Participants aged 45 years and above will compete in a 10-km race.
Prizes will be awarded separately to male and female participants up to 10th position in each category. The winner in each category will receive INR 30,000, followed by INR 20,000 for second place and INR 15,000 for third.
The fourth-placed finisher will receive INR 10,000, while those finishing fifth to 10th will receive INR 5,000 each.
The organisers said the event would therefore have 60 prizes across the three categories, with an overall prize value of INR 6.3 lakh.
The marathon carries the message “Run for Fitness | Run for Unity | Run for Peace”, with organisers stating that the event aims to promote fitness, social harmony, community participation and peace through sport.
The 78 Bn CRPF has encouraged participation from across Nagaland, particularly among youth, sportspersons, students and fitness enthusiasts.
