Diphu, Oct. 4 (EMN): The 1st Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) football tournament organised by 20 Bn. CRPF, Dillaji kick started today at Diphu Sport Complex near Recreation Park.
The inaugural match of the tournament was played between Bor-ih Football Club and Rongphu Football Club. It was a one sided match from the start after Bharat Lekthe scored two goals and opened the account for Bor-ih FC in the first half. Rongphu FC could not find the back of the net and the first half ended 2-0 in favour of Bor-ih.
The second half saw Steven Rongpi and Jaspal Tokbi scoring a goal each for Bor-ih FC. Rongphu FC could only manage a single goal in the second half and the first match of the tournament was won by Bor-ih FC 4-1.
Earlier, Karbi Anglong Autonomous Council (KAAC), Executive Member, Ratan Teron graced the inauguration programme as the chief guest in the presence of Anil Kumar, Commandant 20 Bn CRPF.
A total of eight teams from Karbi Anglong District are participating in the tournament and the final match will played on October 7.
