Dimapur, Dec. 19 (EMN): As part of its civic action programme, 173 Battalion CRPF located at Dimapur airfield donated competitive books to needy students in its headquarters on December 19.
The books were given away by Sh. Sarbjit Singh, Deputy Inspector General (Ops), CRPF, as the chief guest. Speaking on the occasion, the chief guest encouraged the youth to take part in building the nation by enrolling themselves in the Indian force. He also spoke about the rich and diverse culture and chivalry of the Nagas.
It may be noted here that the battalion has been entrusted to initiate and mobilise the youth for enrolment through print and electronic media by assisting them through on-line registration of forms. Altogether 598 youth (male-496 and female-102) were successfully registered by this unit. The registered candidates were given free Staff Selection Commission Recruitment (SSC) coaching classes and Physical Endurance Test (PET) both morning and evening since September 3, 2018, by trained staff of the unit.
This was done to help candidates aware and adapt to the examinations/ test they would undergo. The battalion also initiated the programme to assist the needy unemployed youth of Nagaland by providing a platform in armed forces as well prepare them for job opportunities in various organisations.
The programme was attended by Joseph Keishing, Commandant of 173 Battalion, along with officers and men of the unit apart from prominent people of the areas and NGOs.
It stated that the students have expressed gratitude to the unit for providing the study materials/ aids and guidance in preparing them for the examinations.
