Kohima, April 17 (EMN): The Central Reserved Police Force (CRPF) personnel have been engaging in helping stranded individuals and the needy since the nationwide lockdown was imposed by distributing food items and other essential commodities, stated an update from the office of DIG (OPS CRPF), Kohima, on Friday.
The CRPF had distributed food items, hand gloves, hand sanitiser, surgical masks, soap and hand wash solutions to the daily wage earners, labourers in Kohima.
Speaking to Eastern Mirror, DIG (CRPF OPS) Syamchan De informed that ever since the lockdown came into force, CRPF personnel had been distributing water to the citizens in various colonies of Kohima besides relief and other essential commodities. He stated that CRPF has been continuously sensitising the people about the need for practice of social distancing and various other preventive measures in the fight against Covid-19.
The officer informed that PK Mishra, second-in-command of DIG, and the jawans have also carried out demonstration on hand washing, hand sanitising and other hygienic practices. He added that the same would be continued to help the less privileged.
78 Bn CRPF Civic action programme
In a related programme, 78 battalion CRPF organised a civic action programme (CAP) at Pentecostal Church, Sechu-Zubza, and distributed ration and food to the people in the locality.
Ram Chandra, 2nd in-charge commandant (AOL) had distributed rice, dal and other essentials as well as preventive items in the presence of Anil Kumar Jha, 2nd in-charge, and other officers.
The commandant also stated that the forces would be providing aid to the people besides security. He advised the villagers to take active part in the fight against the disease and strictly follow all preventive measures which are of utmost importance.
