Dimapur, Feb. 20 (EMN): The district election officer of Mokokchung, Sachin Jaiswal has promulgated prohibitive order under Section 144 of Criminal Procedure Code (CrPC) in Longkhum village, in view of the apprehension of the possible breach of peace and disturbance of public tranquillity thereby vitiating the smooth conduct of election in the village.
The order will remain in force from 6 pm to 6 am from Feb. 19 till the end of the election process i.e. Mar. 3.
The order prohibits assembly of five or more persons and carrying of fire arms, stones, lathis, explosive materials or any such items with immediate effect. Violators will be liable for punishment under Section 188 of the IPC.
The prohibitive order shall not apply to government officials involved in the conduct of elections, law and order and essential services, the order stated.
