DIMAPUR — The Carl Rogers Institute of Mental Health and Research Centre (CRIMHRC) has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Trinity School Kohima on Saturday, aiming to address mental health challenges, dismantle existing stigma, and empower the student community with life skills for holistic well-being.
According to an update recognising the increasing pressures faced by young people today, both institutions have outlined a comprehensive agenda focusing on several critical areas.
A core objective of this MoU is to create an open and accepting atmosphere where discussions about mental health are normalised. Through workshops, awareness campaigns, and interactive sessions, the initiative will work to dispel misconceptions and encourage students to seek help without fear of judgement.
The collaboration will offer sessions on cybersecurity best practices, focusing on responsible online behaviour, safeguarding personal information, and recognising potential online threats. Additionally, the programme will provide guidance and support for identifying symptoms, developing coping strategies, and seeking professional help.

Another important aspect of the partnership will involve educating students about the risks of substance abuse and its effects on physical and mental health and offering strategies for prevention and intervention. The focus will be on making informed decisions and encouraging seeking support for themselves or others.
The MoU will enable access to trained professionals who can provide general and personal counselling. These sessions will offer students a safe space to discuss concerns, develop problem-solving skills, and receive guidance on various aspects of their lives, from academic stress to social challenges.
Speaking at the signing ceremony, representatives from both CRIMHRC and Trinity School expressed enthusiasm for the collaborative venture.
A spokesperson for CRIMHRC stated that their goal is to equip students with the emotional intelligence and practical tools needed to thrive in today’s complex world.
The principal of Trinity School highlighted the importance of a holistic educational approach, stating that academic excellence must be complemented by robust mental health support.
