Dimapur, Sep. 18 (EMN): The Dimapur have reported an underground activist who was stabbed besides several other underground workers who have been detained for extortion-related activities in the commercial centre in the recent past.
The Dimapur police issued a press release offering updates in a press release on Monday.
Extortionist-related cases
On Sep. 9 two persons identified to be a Tovito Kiba, 23-year old man from Ghoshito in Zunheboto district; Bishu Debbarma of Namtoli in Agartala of Tripura were stabbed by unknown miscreants at Bamun Pukhuri, the police stated.
‘The victim Tovito Kiba reportedly an NSCN (R) cadre was grievously injured in the abdomen and was admitted to Zion Hospital while the other victim Bishu Debbarma, an auto driver received injuries in his chest and was admitted to civil hospital, Dimapur. The incident happened when the two persons had gone to the colony to collect yearly tax in the name of NSCN (R). A suo motto case has been registered and investigation is on,’ the police stated.
On Sep. 10 East police station personnel apprehended one person Kayes Ahmed, a 27-year old man. He was apprehended for selling illegal pre-activated SIM cards from the Blue Hill area in Dimapur, the police informed. The police seized 16 pre-activated SIM cards, the press release stated.
Further the police stated that on Sep. 13 personnel of the Dimapur police’s anti extortion team (AET) apprehended one person namely Inavi Zhimo, a 21-year old man from Chisholi under PS Ghatashi of Zunheboto, while he was collecting “tax” from business establishments in the name of NSCN (U). The police seized Rs.1760 from his possession, the press release stated. The police added here too, that investigation was on.
On Sep. 13 9th NAP (IR) personnel conducting MVCP at Neisatou colony in Dimapur stopped a white Maruti Gypsy that was without registration number. The police found a 7.65 pistol in which was a magazine with five live rounds, from the possession of a SS ‘Rajupeyu’ Vikato Aye of the NSCN (I-M), the police stated. The person was arrested, and a complaint registered with the west police station and “investigation is on.”
On Sep. 13 one person was apprehended by the residents of Darogapathar village while he was demanding illegal “tax” from the business establishments of that area in the name of an underground faction, the police stated. The press release did not specify which group. ‘The accused namely SS Lieut NNC Kughavi Assumi (35 yrs) S/o. LT. Kivikhu Assumi, V/o. Mishilimi, PS- Pughoboto, Dist- Zbto, P/Add- Chekiye Village Dimapur was handed over to the police along with the FIR. Case is registered at DPR PS and investigation is on,’ the police stated.
On Sep. 15 the Anti Extortion Team of zone-II apprehended one SS ‘Rajapeyu’ of the NSCN (IM) called Toluvi Zhimo, a 34-year old man presently residing at Padum Pukhuri block-3, while extorting money from a business establishment at Dhobinalla in the name of NSCN (IM), the police stated. A sum of Rs. 390 was seized from his possession and a case has been registered against him and “further investigation is on,” the police stated.
On Sep. 15 personnel of the Crime Branch PHQ apprehended one person namely Samuel Yimchunger, a 34-year old man from Sotokur in Tuensang and found in his possession a .22 pistol with two live rounds from the Blue Hill station area, the police stated.
In connection with FIR lodged where one Autorickshaw Bearing Reg No. NL07F 5672 was stolen from NIDC Complex (Industrial Estate), Dimapur on 03/9/2017 at about 2130 hrs, Dimapur Police arrested one person Namely Khamto Khiam S/o. Polong Khiam, V/o. Chipur (Tsg) and recovered the stolen auto from his possession. Accordingly, case is registered at West PS and investigation is on.
On Sep. 16, eight women were rescued by the police during the raid by women police at two hotels namely Natraj Luxury Inn and Travellers Inn at New market. The press release stated that three persons were arrested in this connection. The press release identified them as Azekur Ali, a 22-year old man from Upekaonda in Nagaon of Assam; his present address was mentioned to be Dhobinallah in Dimapur; Robikul Islam from Daopara in Assam; his present address was stated to be New Market in Dimapur; and Nivas Das, a 35-year old man from Tarapur in Tripura; his present address was mentioned to be New Market in Dimapur.
‘A case has been registered under various sections of Prevention Immoral Trafficking Act and further investigation is on,’ the press release added.
