It is truly a case of an old saying coming true for Creed singer Scott Stapp. “Here today, gone tomorrow” sadly appears to apply in Stapp’s situation lately as he is penniless and homeless. He posted a 15-minute long video on his Facebook page in which he explains his tragic situation and stated he is “under a vicious attack” from unnamed people who want to ruin his reputation, TMZ reports.
About two months ago, Stapp says, he began to look into his finances in detail and was horrified to discover that “a lot of money” had been “stolen” from him. He also claims that he is owed royalties that have gone unpaid. Worst of all, he says, there was major fraud committed on his bank account, but despite four in-person visits to his bank, nothing has been done about it. In fact, he claims, the bank denies that he ever filed the correct paperwork to report the fraud even though Stapp claims he did.
He says that while he was at the bank, he had to beg the people there for $5 to get something to eat, and they refused to give it to him. He tried to explain to them that he had not eaten in two days. He says he was forced to sleep in his truck for weeks on end because he was homeless without a cent to his name.
Stapp claims that the IRS made some sort of clerical error on his taxes that caused them to place a freeze on his bank accounts, and that when he confronted them about it, they said it would take months to return the money to him. He says that his “civil rights have been violated” and that he once ended up in the ER due to being without food and being exposed to the elements with no roof over his head.
He claims that people are spreading false, “slanderous, libelous accusations” that are purposely designed to ruin his career and humiliate him, such as that he is again using drugs and alcohol and had recently been to rehab. He says he has been getting regular blood tests to prove those rumors wrong and that he wants his children to know that he is definitely sober. He says he is perplexed about why this is happening to him.
Right now, Stapp says, he is living at a Holiday Inn and praying non-stop for the people who he claims have victimized him in this way. He is seeking legal council to represent him against these financial crimes. Toward the end of the video, he explains that he has recently “re-dedicated” his life to Christ and he believes his current heartaches are part of God’s special plan for him. He mentions a few Bible verses and said he will not stop proselytizing about Christ. In the end, he says, “the truth will prevail.”
