Different district units of the GBs’ associations submitted a memorandum to its respective deputy commissioners for onward submission to the Prime Minister on December 12, urging the latter to expedite the peace process. The Dimapur District GBs’ Association (DDGBA) jointly with the Naga Council Dimapur (NCD) and Western Sumi Kukami Hoho (WSKH) submitted the representation to the deputy commissioner, Sushil Kumar Patel in his office. The representation, which is appended by DDGBA president Tokuho Suhoi Neho and the general secretary T Kenneth Tsopoe, NCD president T Bangerloba and vice president (Admn) K Ghokheheto Chophy, and WSKH president Vihuto Yeptho, urged the Prime Minister to take the final step and not leave behind the issue unattended beyond his ‘trusted leadership.’ It reminded the Naga people’s anticipation and desire for an honourable and acceptable political solution through political dialogue with the Naga national political groups (NNPGs) namely Working Committee (WC) comprising of multiple armed Naga groups and NSCN (IM) was ‘very high.’ It has particularly reminded of his televised pronouncement to the international audience on the cessation of hostility between the GOI and the Nagas, thereby paving fresh impetus for peaceful co-existence. The representation also reminded the assurance by Union home minister Rajnath Singh on many occasion for an early settlement of Indo-Naga political issue. It appreciated the wisdom of GOI in choosing RN Ravi, deputy national security advisor, as an interlocutor in the Indo-Naga political negotiation. It stated that the Naga people’s hope and expectation for political solution became much more vocal following the signing of “Framework Agreement” with the NSCN (IM) on August 3, 2015 as well as the “Agreed Position” or Preamble” signed on November 17, 2017 between the GOI interlocutor RN Ravi and the Working Committee of six Naga political groups. It recalled the assurance of the Prime Minister to the NGBF delegation who met him on August 3, 2017. They were briefed that all important matters were touched and have agreed to work out the details for peaceful co-existence considering contemporary political reality. They were told that only symbolic issues required further understanding. Observing that the progress of negotiation seem to have slowed down without major hitch, the representation appealed the Prime Minister to help create an honourable and acceptable future for the Naga people. The members have also decided to submit the same representation to the state governor PB Acharya during the day.
