Dimapur, November 10 : The State BJP on Thursday met Governor PB Acharya and submitted a memorandum to him listing the issues confronting the Naga people and seeking his immediate intervention on the alleged injustice and misgovernance of the DAN Government.
The party said as the only pre-poll alliance partner in the DAN Government in the State, it can no longer remain silent while the people in the State are facing utter misery.
“The DAN government has crossed all limits of corruption unless corrective measure are taken urgently, the society is being pushed down to abnormally low level, where there is no law, development, vision or direction as can be evidenced…” the representation said.
The party sought to bring to the notice of the Governor the C&AG reports which, it said, clearly brought out many of the “irregularities” and “rampant corruption” that is prevalent in the State under present government. The departments such as Rural Development, School Education, Medical, Social Welfare, Power, Food and Civil Supply are mired in “unprecedented corruption resulting in various form of protest by the stakeholders which are being suppressed with false promise and even by force as in the case of recent SSA teacher agitation, it said.
It further alleged that the Vigilance Commission in the State has been rendered toothless by the recent resolution of the State Cabinet which stipulated that prior approval of the Chief Secretary would be mandatory for any investigation. This is a clear indication of the intention of the government to prevent any “unbiased investigation”, the party stated.
The State BJP has affirmed its commitment to stand and work for corruption-free governance in line with the clarion call of Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
It has requested the Governor to intervene and take appropriate measures in the interest of the innocent people of the State who are groaning under the weight of this “gross injustice” and “mis-governance”.
The State BJP has also appreciated the Governor’s “bold statements” against corruption on various occasions when he addressed the people of Nagaland and which have appeared in local dailies, the BJP
The memorandum was appended by State BJP President Visazolie Lhoungu, advisor IK Sema, convenor of the party’s F&DC HK Khulu and former president Dr Chuba.
