Dimapur, May 15 (EMN): The ‘public of nine villages of Mopong circle’ has clarified that they are not signatories to the demand of the Aboi district demand committee “as the public of Tobu-Moka has already submitted two consecutive Tobu district demand memoranda to the then chief minister Neiphiu Rio dated on 14th August 2006 and 20th April 2007 respectively.”
This was contained in a press release issued by Wangba Konyak, “former president, KU branch Mopong and A Yangkon (current) president, KU branch Mopong” on Monday. “The signature of Wangba Konyak, the then president KU branch Mopong who has signed in the Aboi district demand memorandum, was withdrawn by him and the public in 2009 itself as it was done without consultation with the public of Mopong circle, and as it was in utter violation of the Tobu district demand memorandum submitted in 2006 and 2007.
“There was not a single public meeting or council meeting held in these nine villages with regard to Aboi district demand, therefore the use of any signatory from these nine villages for the same will remain invalid,” it stated.
However, according to the statement, the ‘demand of Tobu district by the public of Tobu-Moka is validated and remains mandated by the series of public meetings held at Tobu, Mopong and Angjanyang since 2006 in support of the Tobu district demand’.
“The population of Tobu¬Moka stands at 75,834 as per the 2011 Census and is approximately 80,000 as per the National Population Register conducted on September 2015 by census department. It is to be read that the Tobu district demand is not an ambitious demand with ulterior motives against any community or society but the district demand is based on the genuine needs of the 80,000 public of Tobu-Moka, which is all stated in the consecutive representations to the state government”, it stated.
