
DIMAPUR — A seminar on Chakhesang Poula language was organised by the Chakhesang Poula Literature Committee (CPLC) and Razeba Students' Union (RSU) at Jubilee hall, Chakhesang Baptist Church, Kohima, on May 18.
The resource speakers were Dr. Imlienla Imchen, assistant professor at Centre for Naga Tribal Language Studies, Nagaland University, Kohima campus, Meriema and Vibeituonuo Mere, research scholar, Centre for Naga Tribal Language Studies, NU, an update stated.
Dr. Imlienla Imchen spoke on standardisation of language and technicalities of language development. She also emphasised that language development should be user-friendly and reader-friendly. Tribal language should be spelled as per the tone, and use what is generally accepted and understood by the community, she added.
Vibeituonuo Mere shared on the importance of preservation of the tribal language.
A total of 104 participants including representatives from gazzeted officers of Razeba area, Razeba Public Organisation, village councils, VDBs, women societies, youth societies, student unions, pastors, RPO town units and students attended the seminar.
The programme, sponsored by the Razeba Area Gazetted officers, was moderated by Paosu Shupao, president of Razeba Students' Union and Neilhouzhü Zholia, secretary of Chakhesang Poula Literature Committee delivered the introductory note.
Earlier, the programme commenced with an invocation prayer by Rev. Vikuo Rhi, pastor of CBCK.
Deo Movi, president of Razeba Public Organisation shared the word of gratitude and Avi Zholia, pastor of Rükizu Baptist Church, pronounced benediction.
