Dimapur, Sep. 23 (EMN): A brace from Ravi helped STAFAC Patkai beat a wasteful Nizams FC in the ongoing Case Premier League on Saturday at the DGP Ground, Police Complex, Chumukedima to top the league table.
Ravi opened the scoring for STAFAC four minutes after the restart following a defensive error but two minutes later, Nizams were level with Thanring scoring low into the net after a free kick found him unmarked at the edge of the 18-yard box.
Nizams though were guilty of having missed a penalty and an open goal and it cost them the match as Ravi headed in from a corner in the 69th minute to help STAFAC to top the table with 4 points. Nizams remain on 3 points.
In the early kick-off on Saturday at the 1st NAP Ground, G-Sporting Club held defending champions Trinity Sporting to a 1-1 draw.
Trinity started off strongly and scored in just the 3rd minute when Rijo’s ball from out wide was headed in by Imtiyanger. But G-Sporting Club pressed on and found the equaliser under fortunate circumstances in the 24th minute when the referee awarded a penalty for a handball around the edge of the box.
Lanu stepped up and eased the ball into the back of the net.
The draw meant Trinity are on two points from two games while G-Sporting earned their first point of the league.
