Covid-19 positive cases on the rise in Manipur; recovery rate at 100%

Imphal, July 20 (EMN): Even though the numbers of Covid-19 positive cases are on the rise since the past few days, the recovery rates in three districts of the state have reached 100 percent. The districts are Noney, Pherzawl and Tengnoupal, officials sources said.

In the last 24 hours, 14 new cases including nine male and five female were confirmed at Virus Research & Diagnosis Laboratories of Regional Institute of Medical Sciences (RIMS-4), District Hospitals of Thoubal (10), said a press release issued by Dr. Kh Sasheekumar Mangang, additional director and spokesperson of the Health department. They belong to the districts of Imphal west (1), Kamjong (1) and Thoubal (12).

Informing that 10 persons including a technician working at RIMS belonging to Thoubal district do not have travel history and rest are returnees from other states, the release said. They are being shifted to the Covid care facilities. All necessary medical precautionary measures like containment and contact tracing are in place.

In the past 24 hours, 85 persons have been discharged from Covid care centres at Meitram in Imphal west (25), RD wing Lamphel (10), Kamjong (5), Senapati (9), Ukhrul (35) and Covid care facilities, JNIMS (1) after they were found Covid-19 free on RT PCR test, the release added. With the latest development, the cumulative number of positive cases in the state is 1,925.

The total numbers of active and recovered cases are 605 and 1320 respectively, it stated.

So far a total of 3,09,977 persons were screened at various entry points of the state while 71,703 samples were tested for Covid-19, according to a latest report of the state surveillance officer of integrated disease surveillance programme, Manipur. As per the report, altogether 57,383 have completed their quarantine while 3,306 were still at various quarantine centres in the state.
