Dimapur, May 31 (EMN): Amid the second wave of Covid-19 that has raged the country, Nagaland Medicine Dealers Association (NMDA) has urged its members not to sell Covid-related medicines and surgical equipment at more than the MRP (maximum retail price).

Stating that unprecedented surge in demand for some crucial medicines used in treating Covid patients has created a panic among the Covid patients and their families, the association has requested its members to “charge nominal to the patients and general public and consider it as a noble service”.

“The NMDA doesn’t want its members to indulge in any mal-practices or unethical activities leading to selling of these Covid-related medicines and surgical items,” read the statement, while adding that that “no unauthorised person will be allowed to search or check any pharmacies in the name of surveillance and trying to harass any if its members”.

It also urged the Drug control department to check medicines and surgical product dealers who take advantage of the prevailing conditions without drug license and proper documentation and take strict action against the defaulters.

‘The NMDA appreciates the tiresome efforts put on by the medicine wholesalers and retailers for those who are working day and night to ensure availability of medicines and especially of chronic disease and life-saving drugs in stock for the patients come what may’ it added.
