Imphal, March 31 (EMN): As part of security measures taken up by Imphal West district Police in order to enforce the total lockdown and also to prevent the spread of novel coronavirus in the state, around 135 persons were arrested under 109 CrPC today, police said.
They were produced before Executive Magistrates by registering 15 non FIR cases at different Police Stations of Imphal West District for violating the total lockdown, it said. A fine of INR 4500 was imposed and a total of 119 vehicles were also detained.
The Imphal West district police appeals to maintain order, social distancing while coming to purchase from retail shops.
Informing that retail shops along Uripok Kangchup Road and all areas of Imphal West north of it up to Sekmai are allowed to open (from 6 am to 11 am) to sell essential commodities and vegetables, the source said the rest of the retail shops selling the same items south of it up to Mayang Imphal sub division shall be allowed to open from 12 noon to 5 pm.
It will remain the same three days a week i.e. Monday, Wednesday and Friday. One person from one family will be allowed to come to purchase in the nearest shops in his locality only and no vehicle shall be allowed. General public is requested to maintain social distance and unnecessary movement.
On Monday, the state police arrested more than 300 persons across three districts for violating the ongoing curfew and total lockdown imposed by the government to prevent the spread of Corona virus in the state.
