Eastern Mirror Desk Dimapur, Nov. 1: Nagaland's minister for Higher and Technical Education and Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) president, Temjen Imna Along Longkumer has landed in a legal trouble after the Metropolitan Magistrate Court in Bombay issued an arrest warrant (bailable) against the former and charged him under Section 138, Negotiable Instruments Act. Longkumer has been directed to appear before the court on Nov. 3. In a court document widely circulated in social media platforms, the bailable arrest warrant (for case No. 3261/SS/2017) was issued on Aug. 30, 2018 directing the superintendent/commissioner/district magistrate of police Dimapur to arrest Longkumer. The court has also directed the complainant Monshen Fire Protection System Pvt.Ltd “to arrange to have the accused pointed out to the officers who may be entrusted with the execution of the said warrant.” It has set a bail of INR 5000 for Longkumer. When contacted, Dimapur police on Thursday evening refused to confirm whether they have received the warrant from the court or not. The first hearing concerning this case was on Feb. 7, 2016. Since then there have been three more hearings. The case status indicates that the matter was first listed for hearing on Feb. 7, 2018. It was listed again three more times after that with the case records indicating that the case was not heard all the four times. The next hearing is listed for Nov. 03, 2018. Recently, he was accused of “fabricating” documents to secure INR 10 cr. laon from a bank in Dimapur. According to a report in the news portal, EastMojo, this came to light following a complaint lodged by the Dimapur-based Bright Home Society. In an order dated October 8, the deputy commissioner of Dimapur had asked the bank to surrender before it the ‘fabricated’ documents on or before Oct. 22. According to the report, the order followed a summon that the DC served to both Along and the bank in which they were asked to produce all the relevant documents in its original form on Oct. 1 this year. Although both parties appeared and produced their respective documents, the bank representative could produce only the photocopy of the land documents, the report stated. On authentication, the DC found that the documents (jamabandi and final mutation order) possessed by the bank were fabricated, it stated. At the same time, the originals of the said documents were found to be in possession of Bright Home Society’s Aier which, on authentication, were found to be genuine, added the report. The news portal claimed that the documents relating to the complaint and the DC order are in their possession.
