Dimapur, Mar. 4 (EMN): A Christian family organisation called the Couples for Christ, Nagaland unit, conducted a conference named the CFC Kids for Christ Family Conference, at Rüsoma village in Kohima on Mar. 4.
The theme of the conference was “We stand for Jesus,” 1 Cor. 16:13-14, a press release from the organisation stated on Sun.
The organisation stated that it intended to carry out its work by focusing on a number of objectives. Referring to what it called ‘individual renewal,’ the press release stated: “Before one can even consider the whole family, the husband and wife first need to renew their commitment to God. To bring individuals to a stronger relationship with God by discovering and living more fully the power and gifts they received through the Holy Spirit.”
Another objective the organisation pointed out was ‘family renewal.’ “As couples renew their commitment to God, they also renew their commitment to one another and to their Christian family life. Gradually the new life that they find in the Lord filters down to all their family relationships; to build up a community of committed Christian families,’ the Couples for Christ stated.
Likewise, the organisation referred to another objective namely ‘Church renewal. “As individual families are renewed, they form a network of equally committed Christian families which not only support one another but also strengthen the church of which they are members,” the press release stated.
Couples for Christ is stated to be ‘a work of Christ which raises up Christian couples and establishes Christian families committed to the work of evangelization and winning the world for Christ through the power of the Holy Spirit.’
According to the press release from the event organiser, the message of the conference included, among others, the value of family as God’s plan; the importance of communication among members of the family; the importance of praying not only as an individual but as one family and household; the importance of family meals and family meals as a 'hidden sacrament'; gratitude in the family: gratefulness for the presence of each member in their lives, and all the blessings that God has blessed them with; families as entities that have been called to be witnesses (doing everything in love).
