Kenny Rogers

Country music legend Kenny Rogers has died aged 81.

The ‘Lucille’ singer was an American singer, songwriter, actor, record producer and an entrepreneur. A family representative said he "passed away peacefully at home from natural causes," the BBC reported.

Born on August 21 1938, Rogers has charted on more than 120 hit singles across various music genres, topped the country and pop album charts for more than 200 individual weeks in the United States alone. He has sold over 100 million records worldwide, making him one of the best-selling music artists of all time.

Known for his husky voice and ballads including The Gambler, Lucille and Coward of the County, his career spanned more than six decades, reports BBC.

The legend during his years of active has received numerous awards including three Grammy awards. He received his first award–Grammy Awards—in the year 1977 for his song ‘Lucille’ in Best ‘Male Country Vocal Performance’ category.

In his official Twitter, Rogers family twitted, ‘’The family is planning a small private service at this time out of concern for the national COVID-19 emergency.  They look forward to celebrating Kenny’s life publicly with his friends and fans at a later date.’’

His famous quotes includes: ‘Do not be afraid to give up the good to go for the great.’
‘There is a trade off - as you grow older you gain wisdom but you lose spontaneity.’
‘Growing older is not upsetting; being perceived as old is.’

‘You gotta know when to hold 'em, know when to fold 'em, know when to walk away, know when to run.’
