Diphu, Jan. 29 (EMN): Countdown has begun for one of the biggest carnivals in Assam, the 44th Karbi Youth Festival (KYF) which is set to take place in 16 days.
The festival will commence from Feb. 15 till the 19th at the Karbi People’s Hall Taralangso, about 4.5 km away from Diphu, the headquarter of Karbi Anglong.
With the festival just around the corner, various organisations have started organising cleanliness drives surrounding the venue.
On Jan. 28, Sun., the Karbi Anglong Autonomous Council’s (KAAC) Deputy Chairman Ritesh Enghi, along with his people from Nomati constituency, led in cleaning up the site.
The KYF is being organised by Karbi Cultural Society (KCS).
The KCS president, Chandra Sing Kro, said that like every year this year’s edition of the festival would be a grand one with participation from various KCS units. He sought support from all the people in making the festival a grand success.
Thanking the KAAC for extending support KYF, Kro said that an amount of INR 50 lakh from the KAAC had been earmarked for every KYF.
During the festival food, dress, house exhibition from various indigenous tribes of Karbi Anglong such as Naga-Rengma, Thadou, Shyam, Dimasa, Bodo, Tiwa and Garo and others will showcase their traditions items during the festival.
