IMPHAL — The Coordination Committee (CorCom), a committee of armed insurgent groups in Manipur, has announced a state-wide shutdown to protest and boycott the two- day proposed visit of President Droupadi Murmu to the state on December 11 onwards.
The shutdown will take effect from 1am of December 11 and throughout her stay in the state, with exemptions for essential and emergency services.
In a statement to the media, the CorCom alleged that the proposed visit of the President to attend the commemoration of state-level Nupi Lan anniversary on December 12, is not intended to bring peace and development in Manipur
It may be noted that Nupi Lan day is observed on December 12 across Manipur to commemorate the 1904 and 1939 wars waged by Manipuri women against British exploitation and artificial famine.

The statement alleged that the President's proposed visit aims to consolidate colonial rule in Manipur, which has been devastated by the Government of India's proxy war and divisive policies.
It also referenced Prime Minister Narendra Modi's visit to Manipur on September 13, 2025, stating it was to showcase the results of the government's policies.
Meanwhile, preparations for the VVIP visit are underway in Imphal, with road repairs, black topping, gate erections, and painting of road medians.
The DIPR has also started issuing entry passes for media personnel covering President Murmu's visit.
According to sources, the President is scheduled to arrive on December 11 for a two-day visit, attending the Nupi Lan observation in Imphal on December 12, visiting Mapal Kangjeibung, and a meeting at City Convention Centre.
