Dimapur, April 19 (EMN): The department of Cooperation felicitated minister for Agriculture and Cooperation G Kaito Aye on April 19 at the registrar of cooperative societies (RCS) conference hall in Kohima.
A press release from the department of Information and Public Relations on Thursday informed that in his address, Kaito assured the staff and officers that with his leadership the department will progress in all round development for the benefit of the people. He said that the main focus will be on progressive farmer with cooperation to benefit the needy people. Aye said that whatever little money the cooperative societies get it would be used for the development of the people.
The updates informed that the RCS, Wepe Ritse gave a brief profile of the department. Riste stated that the statutory functions of the department were registration, supervision, assistance, counsel, control of registered cooperatives societies; control over cooperative education and training; audit, inspection, arbitration and liquidation, among others.
In the updates Ritse stated that there are 8011 registered primary cooperative societies; seven state level cooperative federation and institutions; and Marketing and Consumer Federation among others.
