Dimapur, July 10 (EMN): A total of 25 forest guards from 11 divisions successfully underwent six months training at the State Environment and Forest Training Institute (SEFTI).
To mark the completion of the training, a convocation programme was conducted at SEFTI campus on July 6.
Addressing the gathering, Dr. Ramesh K Aima, Chief Wildlife Warden and Chairman SPMU, congratulated the young trainees and elicited their crucial role as future custodians of the country’s rich forest wealth. He stated that the training imparted at the SEFTI prepared them for the tough challenges that lie ahead in their jobs.
He further urged the trained staff to come forward and share their field experiences. He also stressed on the importance of women staff in the department.
Kekiye Aomi from Dimapur division received the best forester of the batch in overall and academic while the best forester in extracurricular activities was awarded to Kuholi from Zunheboto division.
The programmed was chaired by Florence T Sangtam, Assistant Director of SEFTI. Annual report of the institute and declaration of the results was delivered by K Hukato Chishi, Director of SEFTI, Dimapur, while the vote of thanks was pronounced by Limaangtet Jamir, faculty of SEFTI. Divisional heads and senior forest officers attended the function.
