RNCSU is headed by two presidents, namely Pele Khezhie as the president for works and Seyiekuolie as the president for administration. It may be mentioned that Pele and Seyiekuolie both were the president of NCSU and NGRC-1CU respectively before the merger. The merger of the two bodies was announced this evening during the Pre-Christmas-cum-felicitation and merger programme held at Hotel Japfü, Kohima. Minister for Roads & Bridges Y Vikheho Swu, who attended the function, lauded both the unions for merging as one. “With the merger of NCSU NGRC-1CU, from now on, a lot of time and resources will be saved. This is a ‘very welcome’ gesture,” Swu said. Speaking to a host of contractors coming from across the State, the minister urged them to take responsibility in improving the quality workmanship. “Our ability is reflected through our workmanship. Being a contractor, first and foremost thing for you is to improve the infrastructural quality,” he stated. Though, stating that lots of things have been achieved during the last 52 years after statehood, Swu, however, pointed out that the Nagas are yet to learn and pick up many things, especially on management skills. To this, he urged upon the contractors to take the responsibility to lead so as to take the Nagas forward. Earlier, the merger of NCSU and NGRC-1CU was declared by Class-1 Contractor Viu Belho. In his address, Belho stated that merger was initiated so as to bring the Nagaland contractors under one union and commonly fight for their cause. The merger was initiated since 2006, however, it took nine years to finally bring both the unions under one banner as RNCSU, informed Belho. He further mentioned that the merger was necessitated as there have been shortcomings with the two contractors’ bodies been divided. “The members should understand that no union is bigger and powerful than the other. With the merger, now we will stand as one body for a common cause,” he added. Belho also informed that the nomenclature of the newly formed body will be moved for further deliberation in the early part of 2016. Minister for Forest, Environment and Climate Change, Dr Neikiesalie Kire, who also attended the programme, lauded both the parties for the merger. “With the merger, you are moving in the right direction,” Kire said.
