A consumer awareness programme on legal metrology and consumer protection was organised in Mon to empower citizens.

DIMAPUR — The Department of Legal Metrology and Consumer Protection, Mon, in collaboration with Konyak Nyupuh Sheko Khong (KNSK), organised a consumer awareness programme on Tuesday at the KNSK office, Mon, on the theme “Legal Metrology and consumer protection: the journey to Viksit Bharat 2047”.
According to a DIPR report, N Mannon, chief legal counsel and member of the District Consumer Forum, served as the resource person.
She referred to the Consumer Protection Act, 2019, defined who a consumer is and elaborated on consumer rights and responsibilities. She encouraged the audience to come forward and utilise the District Consumer Forum in cases of unfair practices.

She explained the procedure of filing a case and stated that the value of goods or services up to one crore rupees is taken into consideration at the district commission.
Sr. Inspector, Legal Metrology and Consumer Protection, Mon, Nganyei Konyak, delivered the keynote address. He emphasised individual efforts towards the Viksit Bharat 2047 Mission and stressed the need for a society that is free, fair and transparent.
