DIMAPUR — During
a consultative meeting held in Chümoukedima district on Tuesday, leaders of
Naga Hoho, Nagaland Goan Buras Federation (NGBF), and the Senior Citizens
Association of Nagaland (SCAN) adopted several resolutions focusing on advancing
the Naga political dialogue and fostering unity among political groups and the
Naga community.
In a press release, the NGBF outlined six resolutions
adopted unanimously during the meeting.
The house resolved that “the Naga people are yearning for an
early political solution,” and urged the negotiating parties to earnestly heed
this call and “arrive at a political solution that is honourable, inclusive,
transparent and acceptable to the people.”
It also appealed to all the Naga political groups (NPGs) to
make renewed efforts towards unity and understanding to work towards ‘One
Solution and One Agreement.’
As per the press release, the house also appealed to all
sections of Naga society to make further efforts towards strengthening unity
and oneness in order to bring all stakeholders of the peace process under a
spirit of understanding.
In another resolution, it urged the two groups in talks for
the Naga solution—the NSCN (IM) and the Working Committee of Naga National
Political Groups (WC-NNPG)—to publish a single document or common draft based
on the Framework Agreement (FA) and the Agreed Position, and approach the
Government of India, “so that there is no confusion over the final solution.”
Additionally, the meeting stressed the importance of
reconciliation and unity within the Naga family, stating that “the effort for
all the Naga political groups to come together should be pursued with all
seriousness in the larger political interest of the Naga people and her
posterity.”
It also appealed to the Government of India to uphold the
Free Movement Regime (FMR) agreement with Myanmar, asserting that “abrogating
the agreement would put the Indian government in violation of international law
and of the basic human rights of Naga civilians to move freely in their
homeland.”
