committee for Lighthouse at DC office conference hall, Tseminyu, on January 24.
DIMAPUR — Nagaland Education Project, the
Lighthouse (Nagaland: Enhancing Classroom Teaching and Resources-NECTAR), under
the Department of School Education, convened a consultative meeting with
members of the Tseminyu district committee for the Lighthouse School under the
NECTAR project on January 24 at the DC office conference hall in Tseminyu,
regarding the upcoming construction of the Lighthouse School complex in the
district.
Speaking on the occasion, DC Tseminyu Rohit Singh urged the
committee to start as soon as possible. He assured that the district
administration would provide all necessary support and encouraged the committee
to monitor the project regularly, stated a DIPR report.
The DC also informed that there had been no objections
regarding the land and that there were no issues concerning the construction.
Deputy Project Director Avelu Ruho explained the structure
of the school complex and the availability of the site required for school
activities.
Asserting the current rural education situation in the
state, she said that many individuals had started their early education in
government schools in rural areas. She therefore requested the community to
support the construction of the school complex in the district, which is
expected to be completed within 18 months.
Social Associate Ransom Lungleng said that the complex is
funded by the World Bank and provided a brief assessment on the management of
environmental and social risks, as well as the impact on the community, health
and safety, cultural heritage preservation, and the water issues to be
addressed in the plan.
The meeting was attended by district heads and
representatives from various civil society organisations.
