Construction labourers have been advised to get organized and form themselves in welfare groups ensure that they avail welfare benefits as equal economic citizens.
A daylong seminar and registration drive for construction workers was organised by the Konyak Nyupoh Sekho Khong (KNSK), the apex women organisation of the Konyak Naga on April 21. The event, which was conducted in the Council hall of Mon town, was an event that aimed to educate construction workers about welfare scheme and benefits as economic citizens.
The deputy commissioner of Mon W Honje Konyak was the special guest for the event.
Appreciating the department of Labour and the KNSK for organising the seminar and registration drive under the department in the district, Honje Konyak appealed to all in concern ‘not to mislead or misuse the schemes’ but reach out to the needy and the ‘targeted people.’
Konyak also advised the registered workers to form a labours’ union to check, verify and identify genuine labours. He assured that the district administration would extend all possible assistance to the department and the labourers to achieve their objectives.
