Lemsachenlok is a community development society comprising of Yaongyimchen, Alayong and Sanglu village and the society has been conserving the biodiversity for the last 12 years.
Addressing a commemorative programme of the Amur falcons that were satellite tagged at Longleng in 2016 completing ‘two circles’, the addl. chief secretary congratulated the people of Lemsachenlok for successfully initiating various community development projects for the growth and development of the community.
Toy also particularly lauded the former executive of PBCA (Phom Baptist Churches’ Association), Nuklu Phom and said that the Yaongyimchen village is fortunate to have a selfless dynamic leader to lead the people in the right direction to ensure community development besides his efficient missionary profession.
While lauding the enlightened village functionaries of Yaongyimchen for successfully implementing the biodiversity programme, Toy said that understanding comes with action which is not always an easy task.
“Conservation itself is a missionary project. We must not only think globally and act globally but also support globally to achieve our goal,” said the addl. chief secy.
Special invitee Menukhol John, principal secretary of school education, in his solidarity message, said that they have come to Yaongyimchen to learn and witness the practical aspects of successful biodiversity conservation adopted by the village community.
He also lauded the community spirit and the proper implementation of midday meal by the Yaongyimchen village. However, he lamented the increasing number of school dropout children in the Class-IX standard in the state and said that it should be the joint responsibility of both the government and the community besides teachers and parents to providee quality education to the children.
Managing director of Nagaland wildlife & biodiversity conservation trust, Bano Haralu, who also attended the function, said that she came to be a part of the programme to celebrate the success of community biodiversity conservation at Yaongyimchen.
Saying that Nagas are at a crossroad as they have lost the sense of direction and governance, Haralu said that it is high time for the Nagas to retrospect, to reconnect and turn towards nature ‘to end all violence’. “We have forgotten that everything we use was inspired by nature. We are responsible for disaster to nature,” said
Haralu while urging the gathering to turn ‘all their efforts into fruits and experience the equal returns from nature’.
A brief history of community biodiversity conservation was delivered by Y. Nuklu Phom, team leader Lemsachemlok. Short speeches were delivered by village council chairmen of Sanglu and Yaongyimchen.
