Mokokchung, Nov. 27 (EMN):The Nagaland Pradesh Congress Committee’s (NPCC) Vice President Jonathan Lemtur on Tuesday disclosed that the party will be contesting in the 26th Aonglenden assembly constituency by-election in Mokokchung district. The current seat is vacant after the demise of its legislator then, the late Imtikumzuk Longkumer.
The Congress leader disclosed this information during the sidelines of a constituency tour at Menung River in Longjang village. Jonathan did not specifically disclose the details of the Congress’ intending candidate but assured that the party would be contesting.
Lemtur, in-charge of Mokokchung, was also the guest of honour for the combined tour programme of 23rd Impur and 24th
Angetyongpang. In his address, the Congress leader encouraged the party’s workers not to be disheartened because their time will come.
Asserting that the time had come for the Congress to ‘harvest,’ Jonathan Lemtur said there will be a paradigm shift in December if the party comes to power in at least four states that are going to the polls soon.
Saying the current generation of workers in the party were devoted to the Congress and that they do not run for high positions in the leadership hierarchy, the Congress leader urged the workers to “erase ‘I’ and change to ‘we’” in every work they do because ‘we’ signify unity in the party.
Lemtur said also that the Congress wants to give more importance to youths and urged the party’s worker to focus on party’s enrolment activities. He added that the event was a historic day for the party as it was holding a meeting in the village of Nagaland’s first chief minister, P Shilu Ao, and prayed that the event would signify the revival of the Congress in the state. Mention may be made here that the district congress committee of Mokokchung is on a tour, scheduled for Nov. 24-30, to all the ten constituencies of the district.
