Dimapur, March 16 (EMN): Nagaland Pradesh Congress Committee (NPCC) today restructured the Congress party in 31 Akuluto AC under Zunheboto district. The meeting was held at the residence of Hokiye, GB of Mukhami village, with representatives from different villages.
Speaking at the programme, Akavi N Zhimomi, NPCC secretary (organisation), pointed out the dislike of BJP against dynastic politics and made a comparison with the practice of kinship which is hereditary in Naga society. He appealed the GBs and council chairmen not to withhold the voters slip as is practiced in many villages but ensure that every voters exercise their rights as true Christians.
Lauding the party workers in Akuluto for coming forward to volunteer for the party, he appealed others ACs to follow suit. He also asked the party workers to go from village to village and encouraged people to join politics not only for the sake of holding posts in the party but with zeal to bring about changes in the society.
While pointing out the unemployment crisis in the Nagaland, he told the gathering that Rahul Gandhi has promised minimum income guarantee welfare schemes and how it would benefit unemployed youth of India. Likening a vote to weapon, he advised the gathering to choose the right candidate. Emphasising on the menace of proxy voting which gives birth to corruption, he encouraged the public to desist from proxy voting.
Yongyo Konyak, chief organiser of Nagaland Congress Seva Dal, said many political parties have found its roots in Nagaland but most of them are new. He said the Congress has survived for over 130 years and would continue to stay. He has welcomed all those who are willing to join the party.
He mentioned how elderly people in other states participate in political activities with pure dedication. Lamenting that the same is not the case with Nagaland, he called upon the people to join the party to benefit the society. He also explained the importance of Seva Dal and the role played by the Seva Dal in the Congress party.
Akheli, NPMC vice president, spoke on the important role played by the mahila in any political party. Stressing on women empowerment, she said that it could only be realised when women step forward to join active politics.
Victor, convenor of state young brigade, spoke on the importance of young brigade and how it provides a platform to the youth of India in different fields. He made reference to the AICC president, who himself is giving importance to Seva Dal at the national level. He also encouraged the youth to join politics and participate in society building.
Vitoyi Shohe has been chosen by the party members as the president of Akuluto assembly constituency.
