Dimapur, Feb. 2 (EMN): A vice-president of the Nagaland Pradesh Congress Committee (NPCC) has cautioned the people against what the group called the anti-Christian agenda and activities of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP).
The vice-president of the NPCC V Lasuh warned the Naga people to be wary of the ‘anti-Christian agenda’ and activities of the BJP and asked the people to reject the party. ‘If the BJP continues to rule the country, the people of India will face disunity and disharmony within themselves,’ he said during an address during a community event.
Lasuh said this while addressing Congress men and women during a meeting of the party in the 17th Chizami assembly constituency. The event was conducted on Jan. 27 at the Chizami town hall, it was informed.
Office bearers of the party in the village and members of the District Congress Committee (DCC) attended the event, it was informed.
Saying that Nagaland and her society had become a confused state, Lasuh urged the party’s workers to ponder upon where the Nagas were headed for and encouraged the rank and file of the organisation to stand strong on the principles and ideologies of the Congress.
Lasuh remarked also that he had never came across a situation like the present political situation in the last 40 years where the elected members have been fooling around with the Naga people which was never witnessed previously.
Lasuh stated that he gave his best in order to build up not only the party, area or district but also worked for the whole Nagas. He lamented why Nagas are chasing after BJP even after knowing the persecution committed by the BJP/RSS upon the Christians and other minority community. He also impressed upon all the villagers, church workers and missionaries to be wary of the anti-Christian agenda and activities of the BJP party and called upon the people to reject the BJP.
On the other hand, he said the Congress party stands for secularism, freedom of speech and expression and freedom of religion. He urged the Nagas not to be lured by greed for power and money.
Lasuh further said that intellectuals across the nation have realised the policy and ideology of the BJP government and added that if BJP continues ruling the country, the people of India will face disunity/disharmony within themselves.
While exuding confidence that the time for the Congress party to prosper is coming, he encouraged the gathering to work with determination. He exuded confidence in the leadership of NPCC president K Therie, who according to him, is able to make the Congress party stand tall, witness progress and bring changes for the Nagas.
A short speech was delivered by Chiekropa Tunyi, DCC vice president, duirng which he urged the party’s members to elect new leaders and to remain firm and united. Alleging that the BJP is trying to dominate the Nagas’ culture and traditions, he encouraged the members to follow Christian principles and ideologies.
