Accusing the present government of total failure on all fronts including the development of infrastructure, education, roads, corruption and non-governance etc., and holding accountable for the suffering of the people, Congress party has decided to bring down the government.
“Even as Congress do not have a single MLA in the present House but we will work to ouster the incumbent government,” said Sanjay Prakash, chairman of NPCC screening committee. He added that Congress party was keen to form the next government in Nagaland.
Prakash stated this while interacting with the officials of Nagaland Pradesh Congress Committee (NPCC) and other frontal organisations Congress Bhavan in Kohima on Thursday. An update from NPCC communication department stated that the All India Congress Committee (AICC) leaders led by the chairman of the screening committee for Nagaland election and former MP, Mohan Prakash; AICC secretary and member screening committee, Sanjay Dutt; and AICC secretary in-charge of Nagaland and Sikkim, Ranajit Mukherjee were present during the interaction.
Sanjay Prakash stated that AICC delegation was in Nagaland to hold meetings with the party leaders and functionaries and other aspiring candidates for the elections.
“We are also having interactions with like-minded political parties and politicians to fight together to remove the present government, as Nagaland is presently going through a difficult and challenging time because the present government is indulging in non-governance and corruption, while people are suffering,” Sanjay said.
Pointing out that the BJP-led government at the centre had removed Article 370 of the Constitution from Kashmir, Sanjay stated that the same government is working to remove 371(A) from Nagaland and also trying to further divide the Nagas.
He also charged the centre of fully cheating the Naga cause stating that it would not bring any solution to the vexed Naga political problem as they have no blueprint in their minds.
In this regard, Prakash stated that election is chance for all to come together and give the signal to the nation for the benefit of Nagaland
“This is only a warming up exercise for the Congress and we are confident that the Congress along with other like-minded parties would ouster the present government in the state,” he said.
AICC secretary Sanjay Dutt said that through the engagements with various party leaders and functionaries, they have learnt about the concerns and issues of the Naga people.
Lashing out at the BJP government’s call for one nation one religion, he stated that Nagaland is a state with real unity in diversity adding that its diverse ethnic message to the country was unification. He, however, termed it ‘unfortunate’ as the BJP wanted to introduce the Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA) to divide the nation on caste, religion and other parameters.
“Congress will strongly stand up and be vocal against all such moves,” he added.
NPCC working president, Khriedi Theünuo, expressed confidence that AICC leaders coming to the state would be a major boost to the Congress functionaries in the state ahead of the elections.
“We need a secular and likeminded party to form the next government,” he said adding, “Nagaland being a Christian state, Congress is the only party which can protect the religion of the Naga people.”
“BJP, which is fighting for only one religion, will have no place in Nagaland while Congress being a secular party will protect all minority groups and every section of the society in the country,” he added.
Report stated that AICC leaders also met the mahila and youth Congress leaders.
