DIMAPUR — The journalistic fraternity in Nagaland and beyond is mourning the passing of senior journalist Imna Longchar, who passed away on June 14 at his residence in Dimapur. He was serving as the Nagaland correspondent for The Frontier Manipur at the time of his death.

In a condolence message, the Dimapur Press Club (DPC) said that during his career, Imna was associated with Nagaland Post, Nagaland Today, and, at the time of his death, The Frontier Manipur.

Mentioning that he was a member of DPC, the club noted that through his reporting he gave voice to stories that mattered, often speaking up for those who had none, and that he worked with determination, humility, and a strong sense of responsibility.

“Those who had the privilege of knowing him will remember his warmth, kindness, and gentle sense of humour. His passing leaves a void. We mourn the loss of a respected colleague and extend our thoughts and condolences to his family, friends, and loved ones,” it read.

“His commitment to truth, integrity, and the voice of the people made him a respected figure in the media fraternity across the region. His contributions to journalism, particularly in bridging narratives between Nagaland and the wider North East, will be remembered with deep respect and admiration,” it read.

In a separate condolence message, Congress leader and national coordinator of All India Congress Committee Minority Department (in charge of Manipur), Rajesh Kumar Sethi, expressed sorrow over the untimely demise of Imna.
