Dimapur, Nov. 9 (EMN): Veteran politicians, legislators and political parties have expressed heartfelt condolences over the demise of former minister K. Yamakam Yimchunger who passed away on Nov. 9 in Dimapur.
Deputy CM: The Deputy Chief Minister, Y. Patton expressed sadness over the demise of K. Yamakam Yimchunger, the father of Toshi Wuntung, MLA and Advisor, Village guard, SCERT and Information & Public Relation.
Patton, in a condolence message, said that Yamakam was “not only a stalwart in state politics but also a champion in many social life, who dedicatedly serve not only the Yimchunger community but also to Nagas community as a whole.” He said that ‘Yamakam’s contribution’ to the Naga society was immense and felt the “deep void left by his demise and the vacuum created would be difficult to fill. The dy. cm further extended heartfelt condolences to the bereaved family members.
TR Zeliang: Leader of Opposition TR. Zeliang expressed pain over the demise of the former minister K Yamakam. In a condolence message, Zeliang remembered Yamakam as a “great statesman whose immense contribution in brokering peace between the Nagas of Myanmar and India will ever be remembered.” Saying that his demise is a great loss to the Nagas, Zeliang expressed sympathy with the bereaved family and prayed God to grant them solace.
NDPP: The Nationalist Democratic Progressive Party (NDPP) expressed sadness over the demise of K. Yamakam and said that in his death, the Yimchungers in particular and the Nagas in general have lost a great leader and an octogenarian. Throughout his life, the NDPP said Yamakam had served the people with humility and dedication and was known for his simplicity and statesmanship, the NDPP stated. The NDPP President Chingwang Konyak on behalf of the party rank and file expressed deepest condolences to the family members and prayed for the departed soul to rest in peace.
NPP: National People’s Party (NPP) expressed pain over the death of former minister, K Yamakam, and father of Toshi Wungtong, advisor of IPR, SCERT and Village Guards, at Zion Hospital in Dimapur after a brief illness. Saying that Yamakam was a true statesman, who was known for his simplicity, the NPP stated that in his death, the Yimchungers in particular and the Nagas in general have lost a great leader.
The NPP rank and file expressed deepest condolences to his family members and prayed God to grant solace solace at their hour of loss.
DCC Tuensang: The District Congress Committee of Tuensang mourned the passing away of K. Yamakam, former minister and a veteran politician from Tuensang district. The committee said it will always cherish his contribution towards the Congress party. Further, it expressed condolence to the bereaved family and prayed for the departed soul to rest in eternal peace.
Wangyuh Konyak: Former MP Lok Sabha Wangyuh Konyak expressed shock over the demise Yamakham . Saying that he considered the demised leader as a fatherly figure both politically and personally, Konyak, along with his family, conveyed condolences to the bereaved family members.
MLA CL. John has expressed shock over the demise of K. Yamakam, former minister whom he regarded as one of the pioneer under Eastern Naga People’s Organisation area in particular.
John said that Yamakam was a sincere, hardworking and a competent public leader and that the vacuum caused by his death would be hard to fill. The MLA further extended heartfelt condolences to the bereaved families.
