DIMAPUR — Minister for Health and Family Welfare, P Paiwang Konyak, has expressed concern that the practice of donating land with conditions is delaying the timely execution of health infrastructure projects across Nagaland.

Speaking during an inspection visit to the recently upgraded Community Health Centre (CHC) in Satakha under Zunheboto district, the minister said such land-related constraints have become a serious hurdle for the government’s development agenda.

According to a DIPR update, the minister appealed to landowners to donate land for public health projects in the spirit of humanity and selflessness. He assured the public of his commitment to fully develop the heath centre and called for cooperation from both the land donors and local citizens.

Once the CHC infrastructure is fully completed, it can become a model CHC, he said, adding that manpower will also be strengthened once the facility is fully functional.

The minister, who is currently undertaking the second phase of a statewide tour as part of the Viksit Nagaland for Viksit Bharat campaign, also interacted with patients and inspected the laboratory, drug store, and other facilities at both the CHC and PHC Satakha.

He urged leaders of civil society organisations to encourage public enrolment under health protection schemes like Ayushman Bharat and the Chief Minister’s Health Insurance Scheme (CMHIS), to ensure that no eligible citizen is left out of free healthcare access.

He also reiterated the health department’s firm stand against unlicensed pharmacies and those being operated by unqualified individuals. “Cancellation will continue as per the law,” he asserted.

To mark the visit, the minister planted a tree sapling within the CHC Satakha campus.

Later in the day, Paiwang, accompanied by Advisor for Food & Civil Supplies and LMCP, KT Sukhalu, inspected the ongoing construction of the new District Hospital in Zunheboto.

He also held a brief interaction with BJP workers in Zunheboto, encouraging them to continue supporting the government in achieving the Prime Minister’s vision of a “Viksit Nagaland for Viksit Bharat.”

The minister was accompanied by the Secretary and Principal Director of the Health and Family Welfare Department, along with a host of senior officials.
