Governor: Nagaland Governor PB Acharya has condemned the recent firing incident at the residences of the Nationalist Democratic Progressive Party (NDPP) Secretary General, Abu Metha and NDPP legislator Sharingain Longkumer. He stated that such violence has no place in the society and expressed hope that the machineries of the state government will leave no stone unturned to bring the perpetrator to book at the earliest. He went on to state the people of Nagaland were yearning for peace and no one should disturb the peaceful atmosphere prevailing in the state.
Deputy CM: Deputy Chief Minister and BJP leader Y Patton, who is also in-charge of Home department, has taken a serious note of the serial firing incidents that took place outside the residences of Abu Metha and Sharingain Longkumer in Dimapur. Condemning the live-threatening act, he said that it has no place in a civilized society. Expressing anguish over the incidents, he has urged the law enforcing agencies to seriously investigate into the matter and bring to book the perpetrators and award befitting punishment as per the law of the land.
NDPP: The NDPP Kohima Region has also condemned the “dastardly criminal act” of the recent firing, stating that “such dastardly and heinous crimes perpetrated on highly respectable, responsible, peace-loving and law-abiding citizens are truely reprehensible and highly condemnable.” It has also urged the law enforcing agency to find the miscreants and give a befitting and exemplary punishment.
NGBF: The Nagaland GB Federation (NGBF) has vehemently condemned the firing incidents that took place on June 5 and 6th. “It was very shocking to learn such kind of criminal acts could be carried out in secured zones and slipped away without trace,” the federation said.
