Mokokchung, Aug. 4 (EMN): A group of likeminded individuals living along the Nagaland-Assam border area visited people affected by the floods at Kaziranga National Park in Assam on Sunday and handed over cash and relief materials that were collected during a charity drive.
An update from the delegation said that the group was received by members of the Kohora Baptist Church in Assam.
The team visited the Kaziranga relief camp at Kohora village near the Kaziranga National Park where more than 100 families are said to be camping after torrential rains reportedly breached river embankments and triggered floods in the area.
The group, led by citizens Tali Imchen and Bitul Kormi, informed that donations from well-wishers were collected during a cultural exchange programme that was held on August 2 coinciding with the Tsüngremmung festival of the Ao Nagas at Saring village.
Cash and relief materials were distributed to the flood-affected families, the updates stated.
They are stated to have acknowledged ministers Temjen Imna Along Longkumer and advisor Dr Longrineken; and Saring Village Council and other well-wishers who donated cash and materials during the charity drive for people affected by the floods in Assam.
