- DIMAPUR — Commemorating
World Oral Health Month, the Community Health Centre (CHC) in Chiephobozou
under Kohima district led by Dr. Asezo Sekhose, dental surgeon, conducted a
series of oral health awareness initiatives on April 16 on the theme “A happy
mouth is a happy mind.”
- A DIPR report stated that throughout the month-long
observance, Dr. Sekhose and his dedicated team organised oral health camps
across schools and an orphanage under Kohima. During those camps, oral
screening, fluoride application and necessary dental extractions were carried
out, benefiting numerous children and students.

- The programme also focused on the importance of oral hygiene
including demonstrations on proper brushing techniques and awareness on the
harmful effects of tobacco consumption.
- To foster awareness through creativity, a painting
competition was held for students, allowing them to express oral health
messages artistically.
- Additionally, targeted awareness sessions were conducted for
ASHA workers, community health officers (CHO), Anganwadi workers and councilors
of the Chiephobozou block. The sessions not only emphasised oral hygiene but
also included awareness on oral cancer, aiming to strengthen early detection
and prevention efforts at the community level.
